All the hearts who are content
And all who feel unworthy
And all who hurt with nothing left
Will know that You are holy

Just another one of those times…

I know that I need to wholly pursue God each and every day in my life. I know that I need to focus my whole purpose to him, and to let him lead me. I know this because I am so unsatisfied. I get lonely, lost, fueled only temporarily by projects and assignments, distracted by wonderful people, humor, and beautiful- but worldly- desires. But at the end of the day, I run back to where I am comfortable, where I know the truth is present, and where I am unconditionally loved. To the presence of God.

When nights like these hit me that is when I know that I’m doing “it” wrong. I know I need to re-evaluate myself. I do this time and time again, but honestly, I just don’t know how to take the next step forward, I suppose. So here’s my “Jesus, take the wheel” moment, because I can’t forfeit my life to God without his help in doing so.

Proverbs 16:9

Today I was convicted for how lightly I look at sin, especially because even if we commit it, we are forgiven, right? The Lord showed me something powerful that helped me understand the power of my inequities.

it may not be for everyone, but maybe it’ll help us understand how callous we can be to some thing that should be regarded mercilessly.

Our sin brought the Son of Man unto this cruel earth.
Our sin humbled him when he should have been glorified.
Our sin ignored him.
Our sin doubted him.
Our sin denied him.
Our sin betrayed him.
Our sin beat him, each one a stripe on his back.
Our sin mocked him.
Our sin nailed him to the cross.
Our sin killed him.
Our God raised him.

What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing  Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ

quick post for my accountability sake.-

for lent i’m committing more of my time to building my faith and growing stronger in my relationship with God. one main way i am doing this is by essentially cutting out facebook. however, i may need it for a few groups and things, but it is a useless distraction. a good fraction of my time is wasted there, and by cutting it out, i plan to commit that time to God. it’s awful to use the excuse that i’m running low on time for prayer if i’m spending a lot of it mindlessly scrolling when i could be growing and encouraging and learning and loving and praying and living.
i mostly just want to focus my mind what builds me up. so, this is my proclamation of my sacrifice. and not just gorging myself of something so mundane as facebook and leaving it at that. but i am generally committing more time to prayer, bible study, and building my faith and my relationship with the Lord in a deliberate way. it’s the very least i can do in this time of meditation, sacrifice, and intentional devotion. i’m anxious to see God work in the time i am designating for his purpose.

scripture on time management.

Ephesians 5:15-16
Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.

Matthew 6:33
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Colossians 4:5-6
Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

Proverbs 16:3
Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.

1 Corinthians 9:26-27
Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

Psalm 39:4-5
“Show me, O LORD, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting is my life. You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Each man’s life is but a breath.

Proverbs 13:4
The sluggard craves and gets nothing, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.

James 4:13-17
Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast and brag. All such boasting is evil. Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins.

Psalm 90:10
The length of our days is seventy years—or eighty, if we have the strength; yet their span is but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away.

Ecclesiastes 3:
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:

Psalm 33:11
But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.

1 Timothy 4:14-16
Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through a prophetic message when the body of elders laid their hands on you. Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

Hebrews 6:11-12
We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, in order to make your hope sure. We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.

Proverbs 19:21
Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.

Deuteronomy 4:29
But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Proverbs 21:5
The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance:
Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners
of whom I am the worst.

Made a playlist for my quiet time. Now it feels more like an official routine. And so i blog about it.

Bible Study - Feb. 2, 2012
Acts 10

What i learneded:

Cornelius is told by an angel to send men to Joppa to bring back Peter. Cornelius does this immediately, he doesn’t stumble in his obedience. Peter receives a vision from the Lord that tells him

“Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.” (Acts 10:15)

As Peter is thinking about his vision, the men are arriving to bring him to Cornelius. God’s perfect timing is in example right here. The Holy Spirit then tells Peter that three men have come, but not to hesitate to go with them for the Lord has sent them. Peter and the men go back to Cornelius and as Peter arrives, Cornelius falls at his feet, but Peter says

“Stand up, I am only a man myself.” (Acts 10:26)

Peter tells Cornelius and his relatives and close friends all about Jesus, his life, death, resurrection, and the disciples witnessing him afterward. Sharing the Gospel as he is called to do. He does not hesitate to know what he was called to Cornelius for. He told them of forgiveness and the gift of the Holy Spirit. But before he finished, the people were filled with the Holy Spirit and some were surprised, because some filled were Gentiles. Peter clarifies this:

“Surely no one can stand in the way of their being baptized with water. They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have.” (Acts 10:47)

What i thunk:

This and Peter’s vision begin to shape out the equality we now know despite our differences. Whether they be Jew/Gentile, wealthy or homeless, Catholic or Non-Denominational. We are all equal in the Lords eyes. We can’t hold ourselves or others back because of the level we are in our faith, or our age, or any other limitation. The Lord is not limited by these things and he makes that clear in this passage in many ways.

We can’t let anything hold us back from doing what God tells us. May we be just as Cornelius in his obedience. May we be persistant in our time with the Lord so that he uses us in these ways. So we can see in our days the way that he interweaves of lives just as he does with these men. May we allow Him to work wonderfully in his timing and his plans. May we be always on our toes that it is a constant calling on our lives. May we not question why we are called into new horizons by God, but know that we are called to share the Gospel with each and every person, no matter our differences.

Come&Live! is a 501(c)3 non-profit community dedicated to proclaiming the good news of Jesus.
By joining hands with artists {musicianaries}, we provide them with guidance, direction and accountability to model a life of genuine faith. Our focus is in promoting the only true enduring treasure - loving others and living like JESUS. We choose to share music and profit as a humble example of radical generosity. We live simply to give generously, encouraging others to do the same. Our prayer is that God would use us to Give. Love. Share. and Revive.

The sun has not yet risen but our bags are packed; we’re on our way to see God work in mighty ways in South Dallas. We think we’re ready for it, but as i am constantly reminded- i can never really prepare my heart for what is in store when doing work for the kingdom. Headed to a place where the Lord’s anointing and presence will reign in our lives, non-stop for a week straight.

On a plane headed westward, we watch the sun rise.

Praise God for this whole experience. Here’s my attempt to put it into words.
(P.S. this is the longest post i’ve ever written. Brace yourself.)

So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.
